My animal was at SIRA / SICAFE, I have to re-register it at SIAC

No. All animals that were registered with SICAFE and / or SIRA were automatically integrated into SIAC, and no further registration is necessary. You just have to keep in mind that you should always keep your data up to date. You can always check your pet's registration at ww.siac.vet/verificar-registo

My pet has died, what should I do?

If your pet died at a Veterinary Medical Service Center (CAMV), request a referral to an authorized incineration unit. If your pet died at home, you have several options. You can: - contact your animal's assistant CAMV; - contact an authorized incineration plant; - contact an authorized Category I animal by-product incineration plant; or - contact the City Council of your residence or the animal's accommodation.

What is SIAC registration?

Registration is done only once and consists of a set of information collected at SIAC, namely: - elements related to the number of the transponder / microchip; - animal review elements (most relevant aspects and properties); - identification of the holder of the animal and its contact details; - identification of the veterinarian who marks the animal and its contacts; - as well as other particularities or characteristics and official preventive health measures or relevant information that have been associated with the animal.

When should my dog be licensed?

Dogs registered with SIAC are subject to annual licensing at the Parish Council in the area where their titleholder is registered, and Parishes may issue additional regulations for the procedure for issuing a license. With the exception of dangerous or potentially dangerous dogs, the initial registration with SIAC is valid as a license for one year from the date of registration. For the issuance of a license and its annual renewals, owners of dangerous or potentially dangerous dogs must present the elements required for this purpose by special law, and must ensure licensing within 30 days after registration with SIAC.

Which canids are exempt from paying a license?

- Guide dogs; - Guard dogs of State establishments, administrative bodies, charities and public utility organizations; - Dogs that are collected in facilities belonging to legally constituted and non-profit zoophilic societies and in municipal kennels; - Dogs held by other public entities within the framework of policies for raising awareness or education for animal welfare. - Owners of canids in situations of economic failure, as well as keepers who have collected dogs at official animal collection centers, are also exempt from paying the fee.
