Águeda Sports Park

Several steps gave rise to the inauguration of the emblematic and nostalgic field of S. Sebastião, on 12/18/1930 and where "Recreio Desportivo de Águeda" started to play its games and achieve its first sporting victories. Throughout its 90 years, Recreio was not just a Football Club. It was much more than that. A Recreational, Cultural and Sports Association unique in its region and an example of national sportsmanship. Guided by the sporting spirit of his captain, coach and manager Neca Carneiro, he formed Gymnastics, Tennis, Basketball, Cycling, Swimming and Canoeing Schools that reached the maximum levels of National and World Sports, even holding several National Champion titles and participations in Olympic games. Another great figure from the Recreio Desportivo de Águeda was Engº. Carlos Rodrigues. Through his hand, Recreio dos Anos 40,50 and 60 gains importance and acquires several district football titles that later would cement Recreio as a Club of national value with assiduous presence in the main categories of Portuguese football. Recreio remained in Campo in Venda Nova until April 1974 when the current one was inaugurated in Redolho (the acquisition of the land for the soccer field in Redolho was the initiative and purchase of Prof. Marques de Queirós in Mayor). From here, the golden years of football in Águeda began, which made Recreio meet the best national clubs, exporting stars to the whole country and culminating in the ascent to the 1st National Division in the 1982/1983 season.
