Clube Ténis de Águeda was constituted a non-profit sports, cultural and recreational association, on September 18, 1990 at the Notary of Águeda. Since that date, its main objective has been to disseminate, promote and develop the practice of tennis, both on a purely sporting and socially and cultural level. At the end of the 90s, the facilities of the Águeda Tennis Club were inaugurated, which comprise six porous concrete tennis courts, a central porous concrete tennis court with benches with capacity for 450 people and a covered pavilion prepared for the tennis practice, and all courts have lighting that allows night sports. In addition to the sporting infrastructures, there is a social support building, consisting of two floors that contains administrative services, technical services, a bar, changing rooms and multipurpose rooms. In the course of more than 25 years of existence, the Águeda Tennis Club has trained numerous athletes, with outstanding performances at district and national level, allowing the institution to assert itself as a reference club in tennis. On this date, the Águeda Tennis Club has more than 400 members, who more or less regularly follow the life of the institution, using its infrastructures to practice the sport. As a tennis school, the universe of students consists of about 100 people, aged between 5 and 70 years. Attentive to the constant evolution of society in general and sport in particular, the Águeda Tennis Club seeks new values that will allow it to guarantee future sustainability, meeting the expectations of the public, and in 2017 a new modality will appear: Padel.
