Vale Domingos is a small place located at the source of Águeda, more precisely at the foot of the Serra do Caramulo. The mountainous area is a very rich region, mainly for its forest, for the crops of corn, potatoes and other agricultural products. The mountain offers us its natural beauty, with its welcoming villages that are authentic paintings from the Art Gallery. Its people still maintain the traditions of pilgrimages to Santa Eufémia, Senhora do Livramento, Senhor da Serra, S. Geraldo and Senhora da Guia. Naturally, a region with such a rich cultural heritage should have, almost necessarily, a folk group, which would collect and preserve all local traditions. Thus, in 1981 the Group of Dances and Songs of Vale Domingos emerged, which through its collections not only of dances and songs but also of costumes, uses and customs, became the faithful representative of the Mountain Area of Águeda. Member since almost the first hour of the Portuguese Folklore Federation, he is also affiliated with Inatel.
